Meet Your Merchant: Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken

Nick Janner and Ryan Cook opened Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken in the Summer of 2019. Offering, “The Best Dang Biscuits and Beyond", Rise has become a local fast and family friendly favorite by many in the community.

“We strive to make the best food using the highest quality ingredients.  Our biscuits are made from scratch all day long.  Our chicken is buttermilk brined overnight and fried to order.  We are fast, friendly and enjoy being a part of your day.” shared Ryan.

Both Nick and Ryan are busy dads who appreciate the art of cooking and each dreamt of owning their own restaurant. Nick is a chef who previously worked for other local restaurants and Ryan has a degree in food and beverage management. The duo met many years ago while working in the test kitchen at Houilhans.

“We always talked about going into business together, but never found the right thing” shared, Nick.

When Ryan discovered Rise in North Carolina, he knew it would be the perfect opportunity for them to work together and bring this creative concept to their beloved Kansas City community.

Rise is located on Tomahawk Road between Clique and Pride Dry Cleaners.

 “We love getting to know our customers and seeing our regulars every week.  We enjoy shopping and eating around the Village, everywhere you turn there is a smiling face and a welcoming shop!” exclaimed Ryan.

While the indoor dining room is closed, Rise makes ordering and pickup easy with curbside pick up and delivery through UberEats, DoorDash and Postmates.

“COVID-19 has been a devastating on so many levels, but we truly appreciate the support during this time.  We are thankful that we are keeping our staff employed while safely serving customers the best dang biscuits and chicken!” said Nick
