Story. opened in May 2011 by owner and chef, Carl Thorne-Thomsen. Chef Carl is a self-taught, dedicated and award-winning chef that we are lucky to have as part of The Shops of Prairie Village.

“Myself and my team offer a fine dining experience featuring an award-winning wine list, craft cocktails and a creative, seasonal menu with exceptional service and attention to detail in an inviting and relaxing environment” shared Chef Carl.

Everything at story. is made in-house  - freshly baked breads, handmade pastas, dressings, sauces, etc.  Chef Carl supports local farmers and sources the best ingredients he can find. Breads, sauces and dressings are available to purchase at https://www.storykc.com/products

“Chef Carl loves to cook from scratch and create new recipes! He has always dreamed of owning his own restaurant, even before he knew how to cook.” shared wife and owner, Susan.

Story is located in the heart of  The Village by the clock tower. Story. has a wonderful patio for dining & drinks and a beautiful indoor space to enjoy a delicious dinner.

Story. has adapted their restaurant to welcome guests to enjoy a safe dining experience.  They have expanded the patio, socially distanced all dining tables and now offer no-contact curbside pickup with online ordering at storykc.com
